I was called ‘een pruts’ ever since I can remember.

Self-portrait at four years old (note the colours ;-))

‘Prutsen’ (in Dutch) is to be something of ‘a messer’, not messing up all the time (although sometimes surely), but taking objects, messing around with them & making something new out of almost nothing.

I still am a messer – and enjoying it. One of my greatest joys is finding things that others want to discard, in a brocante shop, at a car boot sale or simply in the street, try to imagine the stories behind those objects & combine them into something that inspires – thoughts, creativity & joy.

Virtually everything I make, includes fabrics, which are another great joy.

As are books. And those three have stories in common.

Perhaps above all I’m a storyteller.
